Q: Would an MPX-70 be best for me, as it is the cheapest option at £995+VAT for a factory refurbished model..?

A: Cheapest is not necessarily the best option for you - even if you are on a budget.

The MPX-70 is particularly good value at the moment with factory refurbished models available for £995.  These are 'as good as new' with all 9pins intact, original boxing and a 6 months warranty, so there is little compromise against a new one.

Now the MPX-80 is proving to be the most popular and capable Metaza yet, there would only be one situation where I would recommend buying an MPX-70 instead of spending extra for a MPX-80, and that is if you only intend to engrave pendants.
If your reasons for considering a Metaza Impact Engraver are solely for engraving photographs on pendants, then this is still definitely the machine for you.
For photos on pendants I would say that the MPX-70 software (DrMetaza2) is slightly easier to use and the initial outlay is only (from) £995+VAT.

However, since the release of the MPX-80 almost all Metaza buyers can appreciate the benefits that this amazing new machine can offer them, in the future, if not right away.

We tend to find that most of our customers who already own engraving machines, or previous Metaza models, want to use all of the MPX-80’s functions straight away and the newly introduced Metaza customers tend to want to start off just using the machine for images on pendants.  If they initially just use the MPX-80 for photographs on pendants they soon graduate into wanting to use the machine’s powerful vector line engraving features on gifts, plaques and other items.

This possibility of false economy is why many Metaza users are opting for the MPX-80 despite the higher initial outlay.
